Third annual Memorial Day survival camp at The Land of Odd in Iroquois County IL.
An out of the frying pan and into the fire experience. Everything we eat for the entire weekend will have either been foraged, grown, hunted, or caught in the local area. Underground chef Douglas Yee will be on site to prepare all meals and give insight and advice on preparing and preserving foraged ingredients as well as cooking demos.
In addition to foraging and campfire camaraderie other activities will include fishing, nighttime headlamp frog walk, haunted site exploration, a bonfire, finding and identifying local fauna (reptiles, insects, and more), viewing the local bison herd, exploring ruins, maybe a trip to a nearby waterfall, and more. A weekend of experiences to last a lifetime.
Underground Pop-Up Chef Douglas Yee will be on board to prepare all meals and give cooking demos. Doug came on an Eat the Neighborhood tour last year and liked it so much he wanted to join in on the fun.
Pick your own campsite, full bathrooms and showers on site. Come down for the entire weekend or just for a day. Tents and air mattresses available if you don't have your own. Arrive Friday night or Saturday morning, you can leave whenever you'd like and even stay through the entire day Monday.
$275 per person, $500 per couple. Group rates for 4 or more. Limited spots available!
Douglas Yee has been cooking for two decades at pop-up restaurants, events, and dinner parties in Chicago. His cooking skews Japanese with Italian influences, and is always designed to showcase the seasons as well as quality local ingredients. SEE HIS INSTAGRAM & PORTFOLIO HERE
