Dave Odd is a lifelong naturalist and herper— reptile and amphibian enthusiast. Take a guided tour on a journey through the suburban wilderness to find some of the wild and wonderful creatures that live right in your own backyard.
Spotting a snake, salamander, frog, turtle, cool insects, and bird sightings are pretty much a guarantee.
As you walk through habitats, observe creatures in real time.
On the safari become informed about all of the creatures’ habits, diet, and habitat. Questions are encouraged throughout the safari. Gain the know-how on what to look for to go on your own wildlife safari in your neighborhood.
Dress for the weather and natural environments and bring a bottle of water and a snack. Meet at Potawatomi Woods, between Port Wine Rd. and Milwaukee Avenue on Dundee Rd. Meet at the picnic shelter. It is a forest preserve so there is not really a street address. If you want to put an address in your GPS, it would be 500 E Dundee Rd., Wheeling IL 60090. If weather is questionable, please call Dave on his cell, 847-409-8623.
