Eat the Neighborhood Foraging Walk at Legion Park with the Rogers Park/West Ridge Historical Society

  • Legion Park 3040 West Bryn Mawr Avenue Chicago, IL, 60659 United States (map)

The plant biodiversity in our Rogers Park/West Ridge neighborhood is a dynamic ever-changing landscape that has always been a source of food, shelter, clothing, and medicine for those who lived or traveled through the area. Join us as we take a walk in West Ridge’s Legion Park with Professional Food Forager Dave Odd and learn how to identify, collect, prepare, and use both edible and medicinal plants.   Dave is widely known for his “Eat the Neighborhood” tours and for providing some of the top restaurants in the Chicago area with wild and cultivated produce.

In this leisurely walk of approximately 1 mile, covered over a 2-hour period, you will learn about approximately 50 native or introduced plant species, as well as about the history of Legion Park, which extends along the North Shore Channel along the southwestern border of West Ridge.

Tickets are $30 per person, $25 for RPWRHS Members.

Meet right at the entrance to the park across the street from the Football/Soccer field at 3040 Bryn Mawr Ave, Chicago.
